How will keeping my smile healthy keep me healthy as a whole?

At Forever Smiles, we understand that as a new patient or possible new patient, you have many general questions which need answered before you come to your first appointment. Being well informed makes you feel more comfortable coming to the office for the first time. We often get asked questions about how your teeth affect your overall health.

Sometimes, your teeth and your oral health get put on the back burner when we have a lot going on in our lives. People often tell themselves that because they brush everyday and there is no pain in their mouths, their teeth are fine. Many people are unaware of the fact that keeping your teeth healthy keeps you healthy! Oral health has an effect on many systems of the human body. If your mouth is not in a healthy state, chewing, digestion and all processes that follow can be negatively affected. Not taking care of your gums by brushing, flossing and seeing your dentist on a regular basis for cleanings, can lead to gum disease such as gingivitis. Bacteria can spread to the heart through blood stream.

The lesson? Brush and floss often, and visit your general dentist on a regular basis for a lifetime of healthy smiles!
